Supreme Life Long Health

While there are many other causes of diseases - infection, genetic, chemical and industrial pollution of our enviroment and food, life-style and temperamental - the simple, completely natural and very powerful nutritional routine described here addresses a truly major, and presently only partially recognized cause of many diseases, including many diseases now thought 'incurable', as well as many cancers (see CANCER MORTALITY COMPARISON in these pages).

Suffering from arthritis, gout, diabetes, thyroid disorders, lupus, leukemia, Edema, Lou Gehrig's disease, MS, herpes, Kaposi's sarcoma, vascular and/or neural diseases, cholesterol diseases, prostate, colon, rectal, breast or lung cancer, even colds, the flu, hay fever or other allergies?

We can now actually go ahead and rid ourselves of these and many other diseases and cancers with a simple, natural and nutritional remedy - as shown by a rapidly growing body of very recent biomedical research (see HEALTH NEWS in these pages).


A natural nutritional remedy for many 'incurable' diseases!

Until 1924, the once 'incurable' and severely disfiguring disease of "goiter" (huge wattles of flesh around the neck), and the devastating physical and mental retardation of "cretinism" (dwarf idiots) among children, were very common in the "goiter belts" in the Great Lakes region, the Midwest and Intermountain areas of the US, as well as in other such regions around the world.

After the earlier discovery that goiter and cretinism are caused by nothing more than a naturally occurring deficiency of the trace element iodine in the soils of these areas - and hence, in the daily food of the residents of these areas - the State of Michigan, where 47% of the population suffered from goiter, mandated the addition of iodine to table salt in 1924. This simple measure quickly cured and eliminated goiter, and prevented the further occurrence of cretinism in new-borns - caused by the nutritional iodine deficiency in the mother (once born with it though, cretinism is irreversible). Other States followed suit one by one, and by 1940 all the States of the US had mandated the nutritional supplementation of iodine in one form or another, as in drinking water, for instance.

The stunning effectiveness of this simple and completely natural remedy cannot be emphasized enough. Two very common, and until then so-called 'incurable' diseases - the one severely disfiguring, and the other condemning children to a life as dwarf idiots - were eliminated swiftly, completely and effectively with the simple addition of the trace element iodine to our table salt.

What follows here is exactly the same powerful story - albeit on a much larger scale. It now involves more than 60 crucially vital trace elements which have become either severely deficient, or are now entirely absent in almost all of our daily food. To fully understand how and why this has come about, we have to go way back to the beginning of Life itself.

Life has arisen and evolved - for 3.5 billion years, or 7/8 of its 4 billion year span - in the seas of the Earth, and the seas have always contained - and still do - the complete range of the 92 natural elements of the Earth in solution.

Consequently, and right from the beginning of Life itself, all of these elements, including more than 72 natural trace elements (also commonly called "trace minerals"), have been incorporated into the normal function of the basic metabolic and immune systems of all living organisms - be these plant, animal or human. All living things depend upon the presence of the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements in their daily nutrition for their health and well being (see REFERENCES in these pages).

In his book "Beginnings of Cellular Life", (1992, page 66), world renowned biologist H. J. Morowitz states: "The 92 elements of the periodic table are the essential hardware to be used in building organisms, and they appear to have been evolutionarily chosen to fulfill necessary roles in living chemistry."

In deadly contrast, our modern agriculture knows of and maintains only a paltry total of 8 (!!!) trace elements in its soils, hence in all of its products, and hence again, in practically all of our daily food. This is not done out of cost or profit motives; it is just gross and fundamental ignorance.

Due to this profound ignorance and neglect, and after about 150 years of chemical agriculture, well over 60 natural nutritional trace elements originally present in most soils, have become either severely deficient, or entirely absent in all chemically farmed soils - consequently in all of its products, and hence again, in practically all of our daily food.

And we have begun to suffer the inevitable consequences. We are afflicted with all manner of diseases, scores of so-called 'incurable diseases, and are beginning to die like flies from a whole raft of new, mysterious, and ever more macabre diseases. Eleven 11(!) new, and previously unknown, diseases in the last 15 years! And if nothing is done, this trend will continue and accelerate (which is true; the incidence of many diseases is steadily increasing - despite the best efforts of our medical sciences). All of this can be easily prevented and eliminated simply by re-instituting the full natural range of the 72+ nutritional trace elements in our daily nutrition (see REFERENCES in these pages).

Linus Pauling, winner of 2 Nobel prizes, stated: "You can trace every sickness, disease or ailment in the human body to a mineral (trace element) deficiency."

And as early as 1936, US SENATE DOCUMENT NO. 264 stated the following:

"The alarming fact is that foods (fruits, vegetables and grains) now being raised on millions of acres of land that no longer contain enough of certain minerals (now called trace elements) are making us sick - no matter how much of them we eat. No man today can eat enough grains, fruits and vegetables to supply his system with the minerals (trace elements) he requires for perfect health because his stomach isn't big enough to hold them... The truth is that our foods vary enormously in value, and some of them aren't worth eating as food... Our physical well being is more directly dependent upon the minerals we take into our system than upon calories or vitamins or upon the precise proportions of starch, protein or carbohydrates we consume." (US Senate Document No. 264, published in 1936).

Among many other crucially vital functions (see "Zinc Fingers", Scientific American, February 1993 - for the absolutely crucial function zinc performs at the level of our genes), the deficiency or lack of so many vitally important trace elements renders our immune systems ineffective. It is, for all the world, as if our bodies have an all but impenetrable defence ring bristling with highly sophisticated, exquisitely accurate and supremely effective cannons - but no ammunition.

Today, the only readily available food which still contains the complete natural range of the 72+ biological trace elements is seafood. And a daily helping of seafood, any kind of seafood, supplies us with the 72+ biological trace elements our bodies and immune systems need to stay healthy and function well. And, just like iodine does, the presence of the 60+ now deficient or lacking trace elements in our systems eliminates and prevents a lot of diseases, including many so-called 'incurable' diseases. Due to the constant renewal of our cells and proteins, it has to be on a daily basis; otherwise it does not work.

That we need more than the 8 known biological trace elements in our nutrition in order to stay healthy and well, both physically and mentally, is a very recent discovery. Until a little over a decade ago, all but the 8 known trace elements were dismissed out of hand, and totally ignored by science - simply because of their miniscule amounts, or "traces", in our bodies.

Then, in 1985, Professor John McNeill, dean of Pharmaceutical Sciences at the University of British Columbia (UBC), discovered that the then 'unknown' trace element vanadium cured diabetes in rats. Professor McNeill stated: "The fact that vanadium appears to fix the whole system is a very nice discovery. It was not something we originally intended to look for." At the time, the biological importance of vanadium, however, was largely unknown. A natural part of the regulatory system, it is believed to prevent cholesterol formation both in blood vessels and in the central nervous system. "However", said McNeill, "we never thought vanadium would do it (mimic insulin) so well. From everything we looked at, the rats were completely normal." (Equinox, July/August, 1985).

Professor McNeill's discovery triggered much research into the trace elements, and there now exists a very large and rapidly growing body of new biomedical discoveries which have proven the crucially vital importance of these trace elements to our health and well being at every step. To date, April 2000, The National Library of Medicine (www.nlm.nih.gov) lists 136.759 published research papers on the trace elements, of which 4.122 were written last year alone. But this new knowledge is still largely confined to the biomedical laboratories, and has not yet made its way into general medical knowledge - never mind into agriculture - and our daily food.

In the course of this research 5 'new' trace elements (chromium, nickel, silicon, tin, and vanadium) have now been recognized as absolutely vital to our health and well being. As the direct result of these new discoveries, these 'new' trace elements have been recently included in in some vitamin-cum-mineral nutritional supplements, such as "Centrum", "Spectrum", "Century", "Optimum" and "Balance".

However, the trace elements are being investigated step by step, and element by element, and this leaves more than 60 trace elements to be investigated. At this rate - 5 trace elements per decade - it will be 120 years before our biomedical sciences have investigated the over 60 still 'unknown' trace elements.

Meanwhile though, the "something from the sea every day" nutritional routine works like a charm, and has proven an effective remedy for many people against an astonishing wide range of diseases. And since no one knows at present just how many diseases will respond to this natural remedy, any disease, or combination of several diseases is fair game. Prime candidates are all "late onset" diseases (in middle or old age), all auto-immune diseases, all degenerative and chronic diseases, all neural and cardio-vascular diseases, all cholesterol diseases, many infectious diseases, many cancers, most allergies, and the prevention of many birth defects in new-borns.

There is even one study which has shown that a single daily multi vitamin and mineral supplement delayed the progression of HIV infection to AIDS (Tan AM, Graham NM, Kirby AJ.; "Dietary micro nutrient intake and risk of progression to acquired immunodeficiency syndrome (AIDS) in human immunodeficiency virus type-1 (HIV-1) infected homosexual men." American Journal of Epidemiology 1993:138:937-951). I for one, am not the least bit surprised. And the daily seafood nutritional routine is far superior to any single-element dietary supplement.

There are 2 cautions though. All seafood has a high salt content, and this can be fatal to people with high blood pressure or other salt sensitivities! The other is that seafood is low in calcium, and calcium intake should be increased accordingly - and especially so for pregnant women!

Still, and although this simple nutritional routine works wonderfully well, it is a temporary, 'make do' measure. The seafood resources of our world have been pushed close to exhaustion, and there is simply not enough seafood anymore to supply everyone with a daily source of the 72+ biological trace elements. Also, the daily seafood routine can get very boring very quickly.

The only valid and long-term solution is to re-establish the presence of the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements in all agricultural soils, hence in all of its products, and hence, in all of our food. And this can be done easily, simply, quickly, and very cheaply - just by adding a 72+ trace element fertilizer to all agricultural soils. Such a fertilizer can be readily extracted from sea water by evaporation, and removal of the salt. If pushed hard, by a massive public demand to the authorities, we can have such an agriculture in one year - and all of us can have lifelong freedom from practically all diseases, simply by eating our normal food.

And there is an additional and very powerful benefit to our individual and collective health. The presence of the complete range of the 72+ natural trace elements in agricultural soils also eliminates practically all crop diseases. This will result in a massive reduction of the need for agricultural poisons, and consequently, of the presence of these poisons and their residues in our water, land, environments and food. This will lead to the elimination of another major health hazard, and to another very substantial increase of our health and well being.

Our human genome has endowed most of us with a birthright of 110 to 120 years in perfect physical and mental health, followed by a rapid decline and a quick death. There exist 5 widely separated regional populations around the world where this is common; the Hunzas of the Himalayas, the Georgians of Russia, the Villacabambas of Ecuador, the Titicacans of Peru, and the Okinawans of Japan. All of these societies have one thing in common, they all practice an agriculture which returns all life-wastes, and along with them, all trace elements to the soil, and hence again, to their daily food.

Here is a telling point, and a little known fact: Cancer is so extremely rare in the undeveloped nations that is practically unknown! These people have never heard of cancer! To poor to be able to afford modern fertilizers and agricultural methods, they still practice a traditional agriculture which returns all life-wastes - and with it all trace elements - to the soil.

Another telling example is provided by a native Indian community in Northern Canada which has lately become affluent through oil royalties. Since their new-found affluence, the typical diet of this community has changed from their traditional hunter-gatherer wild food to (trace element-deficient) farm-grown and store-bought hamburgers, french fries and breakfast cereals. Since then, the incidence of diabetes in this community has sky-rocketed to an unprecedented high of 43% of its members! (Canada Dept. of Health, Aug. 1997).

If pushed hard, by massive public demand, we can have this our natural birthright in as little as one year. All it takes is a massive public demand to the authorities - to mandate the presence of the full range of the 72+ trace elements in all agricultural soils. And it's done. Fertilizer manufacturers and farmers will do the rest - and at great savings in costs (it is a substantially cheaper agriculture). We have to do this anyhow, and as quickly as possible. As is well known by now, many virulent bacteria have become adapted to most of our antibiotics; and some to all, leaving us virtually defenceless. Moreover, our scientists have recently become alarmed at the widespread presence of manmade 'endocrine blockers' - the by-products of agricultural poisons which mimic and block the normal function of our hormones - in every aspect of our environments ( "Something awful happening to humans, animals." CNN news, 'Earth', June 30. 1997).

I had stumbled upon this discovery in 1985 and ever since I had predicted the sudden advent of ever more new, mysterious and macabre diseases. To my horror, my predictions turned out to be all too correct. Eleven new, and previously non-existent diseases have appeared in 15 years, but I never thought that there would be that many in such a short time.

Unfortunately, and as long as nothing is done, I have to stand by my predictions. New and mysterious diseases, both physical and mental, will continue to appear at a rapidly accelerating rate and, mark my words, we will shortly begin to see a rapid deterioration of the viability of our new-borns. The heart defect rate among new-borns has seen a sharp increase in the last few years already, and so has Attention Deficit Disorder in our children. In addition, a once very rare birth defect in boys - the mislocation of the urinary opening half way down the penis or at the bottom of the penis - has also seen a sharp increase.

All of this is entirely unnecessary, and a great number of diseases could be eliminated and prevented practically overnight, just by returning and maintaining what nature has always supplied (until our simplistic N-P-K agriculture came along) in our nutrition - the complete natural range of the 72+ trace elements. There is solid biomedical evidence ("Symptoms of Zinc Deficiency In Rats"; "The Neuropathology Of The Trace Elements"; L. Drosti & R. Smith, The Human Press Inc. 1984;) that heart defects in new-borns, and urogenital abnormalities are caused by nothing more than a simple zinc deficiency in the mother, which could be corrected so simply, so quickly, so easily and so cheaply that it is almost ridiculous.

If I were a woman and considering having a baby, I would not even think about it until after having gone on a 3 month-long nutritional routine of "something from the sea every day" to re-establish the complete range of the 72+ trace elements in the body.

It is also well known that the breast cancer rate among indigenous Oriental and Innuit women is 5 times lower than among Western women - and most tellingly - that Oriental and Innuit women acquire the same high breast cancer rate as Western women after immigrating to Western nations. The cause is not the diet, which remains essentially the same; the cause lies in the Western-grown trace element-deficient ingredients used to prepare their traditional diet (grains, vegetables fruit, dairy products, poultry, meat) which cause the 5-fold increase in breast cancer.

But the most recent, and most stunning discovery is this. The daily 72+ trace element nutritional routine is also beautifully effective against the diseases caused by defects in mitochondrial DNA!

The sheer magnitude of this discovery cannot be overstated; it's simply staggering. Today, the medical sciences have as yet daunting difficulties to rectify human DNA-caused diseases. But the correction of mitochondrial DNA defects - and the diseases this causes - is simply over the Moon right now. However, the daily 72+ trace element nutritional routine appears to be highly effective against these diseases as well, and in a very short time. This discovery came in two stages. In 1985 I had come down with three 'incurable' diseases; Edema, Lou Gehrig's disease (ALS) and Multiple Sclerosis. The physician I went to see said "Go home; there is nothing that can be done for you." I did, resigned myself to an early demise (I was 50 at the time), and for another reason altogether, began the "something from the sea every day" nutritional routine.

Three months later, and to my boundless astonishment, I found myself in supreme good health again. All symptoms and traces of these three 'incurable' diseases had disappeared completely - and to this day, 15 years later! And "spontaneous remissions" are ruled out completely. The old symptoms reappear shortly after the daily seafood routine is discontinued - just to disappear just as promptly upon resumption. In the 15 years I have been on this diet, I've been through this several times. It works like clockwork.

The second part of this discovery is more recent. It has recently been discovered that one of these diseases are caused by defects in our mitochondrial DNA (see "Mitochondrial DNA in Aging and Disease", Scientific American, August 1997). The listed diseases are: Alzheimer's Disease, CPEO (chronic progressive external ophthalmoplegia), Diabetes mellitus, Dystonia, KSS (Kearns-Sayer Syndrome), Leigh's Syndrome, LHON (Leber's hereditary optic neuropathy), MELAS (mitochondrial encephalomyopathy, lactic acidosis and stroke like episodes), MERF (myoclonic epilepsy and ragged red fibres), Mitochondrial myopathy, MS (multiple sclerosis), NARP (neurogenic muscle weakness, ataxia and retinitis pigmentosa), Pearson's syndrome.

This discovery, and its implications are stunning to say the least. If defects in mitochondrial DNA can be made good outright and prevented entirely by the 72+ biological trace elements in our daily nutrition, there is a supreme promise that many diseases caused by acquired defects in human DNA can be healed just as simply, quickly and effectively.

The bottom line is that we have been deprived of our birthright to long lives in practically complete freedom from all physical and mental diseases by the vast ignorance and neglect of our modern agriculture - an ignorance so profound that it has condemned millions of people to untold suffering and far too early deaths.

This is a very brief outline of a brand-new, very fundamental and supremely effective approach to the relief and prevention of a great many diseases. The five societies around the world where life-long freedom from all diseases is normal provide living proof. The full story is far more complex, and involves the whole macabre spectrum of agricultural, chemical and industrial poisons and pollutants in our water, land, air - and in our food. But this method - the restitution of the 72+ natural trace elements in all agricultural soils - corrects two major factors of our health crisis at once; it supplies the indispensable 72+ trace elements, without which we cannot help but sicken and die before our time, in our daily nutrition; and it also eliminates the need for all agricultural poisons, and thus, another major cause of disease.

People respond differently to and obtain varying results from this nutritional routine, for several reasons. Chief among them is the difference between early-onset (youth) and late-onset (middle, or old age) diseases. Most late-onset (acquired) diseases respond quickly (within 3 months) and effectively to this nutritional routine, whereas most early-onset diseases (due to their genetic origin) respond very slowly - it may take as much as a year - or not at all.

Another major reason is that there are several other causes of disease - infection, genetic, chemical contamination of our environment and food, agricultural and horticultural poisons in environment and food, life style (smoking, drinking, addictions), psychological and temperamental (habitual anger, resentment, etc.). And while the nutritional provision of the 72+ nutritional trace elements is basically powerless against these causes, it will nevertheless result in a substantial improvement of the 'general' health of these victims.

Meanwhile, and for those people who are able to do this, there is also a another source, and that is to grow your own year-round supply of fruit and vegetables in soil containing the 72+ nutritional trace elements. As an added bonus, this also eliminates all crop diseases, and hence, the need for any agricultural poisons. Legal Issues.

I am not a medical expert, and have discovered this natural remedy only through sheer serendipity and great good fortune. Hence, I cannot make any recommendations. However, this method is completely natural and, actually, recognized excellent nutritional practice. The new "Daily Dietary Recommendations For Americans, 2000" by the USDA now recommend 2 or 3 servings of fish every day (see HEALTH NEWS in these pages), and Japanese nutrition has included one or several daily servings of seafood (sushi, for example) since the dawn of time. Not surprisingly, and in light of the above information:


  • The life-expectancy of the Japanese is the highest in the world (82 yrs. f./ 76 yrs. m. -   versus 79 yrs. f./ 72 yrs. m. in the US).
  • The breast cancer rate among Japanese women is 8 times lower than among western women.
  • Ischemic heart disease is 33% lower in Japan than in North America.
  • Celebrovascular diseases are almost 50% lower in Japan than in North America.
  • Chronic obstructive pulmonary diseases are 40% lower in Japan than North America.
  • Cancer of the trachea, bronchus, lungs is 67% lower in Japan than North America.
  • Unipolar major depression is 26% lower in Japan than in North America.
  • Multiple Sclerosis is extremely rare in Japan.
  • Menopausal problems and osteoporosis are practically unknown among Japanese women.

  • The incidence of all forms of dementia ( including Alzheimer's) in Japan stands at 1% of the population; in North America it stands at 9% of the population (known) and is estimated to be actually about 14% (due to the general lack of recognition of early symptoms).
